December 2nd 2006 update:
On a recent visit to the Pivots I had a pleasant chat with the manager there regarding birding.
He said he was glad to have birders visiting, but he is under a lot of pressure from the owner to stop it.
The owner is very displeased seeing cars driving on the grass and leaving tyre-marks, and he is making life difficult for the manager.
I know it is very tempting to get close to the birds by car to identify them or photograph them.
Please park your car by the gate and walk in.
Its OK to walk around but we have been warned by the managers that taking cars onto the grass will result in immediate gate-locking and access denial.
I have already received four reports from visiting birders who has 1) met a locked gate and 2) was denied access by gate warden.
Please take it to heart and let all of us enjoy the good birding the Pivots gives us.
