Neima Pools

24°05'58''N + 55°41'37''E

Neima Pools consists of a group of small wastewater pools west of Jebel Hafeet.

The site is not mentioned in the Shell Birdwatching Guide, but it is marked as "pump stn pond" in the Shell Birdwatching Guide on page 46, along the road to Al Ain Compost Plant. Some of the pools are very small, and only visible in the sanddunes if you walk around the area.

Starting from Jebel Hafeet, from the Goat roundabout take the road towards Town Center, then at the next roundabout continue around and exit where it is signposted "Compost Plant", continue through the next roundabout and at the next roundabout (after 8.1 km since Goat roundabout) countinue around until you face Jebel Hafeet.

Update December 2007; a new highway is ready from the Green Mubazzarah roundabout directly to Neima Pools (faint trace seen on the map below)

After 10 meters from the new 'Neima Pool Roundabout', turn sharp right onto a gravel road, continue 200 meters along a fence and the pools will be on your left side.

Update February 2008; site destined for destruction with the pools being filled in and bulldozed over.
