Wadi Tarabat

Wadi Tarabat is a large wadi (dry river bed) on the northeastern side of Jebel Hafeet.

The site is not mentioned in the Shell Birdwatching Guide.

 

Take the road north from Green Mubazzarah towards Abu Dhabi Truck Road and Mezyad.

- take a sharp right onto a gravel road leading towards a water-filling station. After 800 m you are passing the water-filling station

- continue straight towards the wadi ahead. This road is NOT suitable for a conventional 2-wheel drive vehicle.

3,6 km after leaving the tarmac road you will arrive at a closed fence across the road. You can climb the left slope and pass the fence, continuing on foot into the wadi.

Wadi Tarabat is an excellent place to find Sand Partridge, Plain Leaf-warbler, Desert Lesser Whitethroat, Menetries' Warbler, Red-tailed Wheatear and Striated Bunting. Lappet-faced Vulture has been recorded.
